There is a lot of overlay between Greco Roman cultures, as showcased by the words "Greco Roman"(:P). The ancient Greek civilizations, being the older of the two, had a lot of concepts that were later carrier over into Roman culture (and others, including most western cultures), as the two are very close geographically, and I believe both areas were once under Greek control at some point. The old Roman pantheon shared MANY similarities with that of the ancient Greeks, as well as architecture, customs, food, and even holidays (anyone else celebrate the Saturnalia, rather than Christmas?). So it makes sense that you would think that they were the Greek Numerals, but it is to my knowledge (as well as many others) that they are Roman numerals. They MAY have, though, been derived, or stemmed from some Greek symbols, but as I am no historian or anthropologist, I cannot say for sure, nor give an official opinion. Hope this helped! :D
