So, I have decided to proceed with the idea of a server wide community build. I want to keep everyone in the process, so i decided to make a post here for you to throw out any idea/suggestions especially towards the topic of the theme. There are some things that are yet to be confirmed, so I have yet to post them, but I'm going to throw out some of my ideas on how this will be organized. Firstly, I plan on having it open to designer and up, however students and apprentices who are interested in participating can contact me and show me some of you work. This is simply quality control. I'm sure everybody wants to put out a good build. Secondly, I want to set up some project leaders, just to keep the build on track. If you are interested in this you can contact me. I'll have some updates after talking to the rest of the staff team. I plan to do this semi-regularly, and I'm sure that we will improve the organization with time. This might just be the beginning of something great.
I think it's a wonderful idea to do a community build I would love to, but there are problems. First off is the time, everyone, or mostly everyone, is back to school or has very very little time anymore for MC and mostly on weekends is when everyone is on. Second there are few Designers + who get on, it's mostly staff, BT, apprentices and lower. Last is the organizing, which you already said you would set it up, but it is going to take a lot of organizing and the build itself will take a long time depending on the size. Conclusion, AWESOME idea overall just the time, unless of course you want to start it when you know people will be back or time off school.
I'd be interested in being a project leader if you need any. Probably on a bi-weekly basis, because as Greg said, most people don't have a lot of time right now cause of school. But weekend "bursts" of building might be interesting?
Yea, it probably would have been better over the summer, but i haven't really considered the possibility of running it until I joined the staff team recently. I disagree with the comment about designers+ though, it seems like there are always a couple whenever i log on.
Might be worth considering on people to /plot add and /plot trust purely to avoid people greifing your hard work, unless you feel like you can trust the people you add. Keep me updated on how progress is and we can maybe tweet it our or make a PMC post depending on how it turns out!
